In this Step Into the Circle podcast, Kate Fontana bridges the worlds of spirituality and social justice, exploring the limitation of false binaries and the crucial, sacred work of reclaiming and re-membering.
Kate Fontana is a Queer Catholic yogi, interspiritual midwife, musician and sacred activist. Her journey has been a weave of music, yoga, therapy, friendship, ecology, and contemplative practice. Raised on the Beatles, Broadway and church songs, music has always been a great source of healing and self-expression. She has practiced yoga since 2002 and has taught since 2009. Since 2011, she has studied the integration of contemplative embodiment practice with social justice through her work with the social-profit yoga studio in Tacoma, Samdhana-Karana Yoga. She now leads women’s spirituality circles and retreats, is training in psychic mastery, and is pursuing a call to ordination as a Roman Catholic Women Priest (a combination of things she can hardly believe herself). Kate is deeply informed by Catholic social teaching; rhythms of liturgy, bodies and nature; Sacred Feminine traditions of Christianity and Yoga; and an unexpected friendship with Jesus.
Leslie Frame-Crowley is a WisdomWomen Founding Member who believes in the power and necessity of sacred storytelling. Coming from a family with a strong tradition of story, and of understanding and connecting to the of the lives of her ancestors through genealogical study handed down from generation to generation, she connected very early on the the power, the fun, and the importance of story; our own stories, and our shared story. This calling has led her to the stage as an actor and to develop a love of writing. Step Into the Circle is a reflection of Leslie’s love of story. She believes that as we share our stories, our dreams, and our work, and as we celebrate other women as they do the same, connections are made, resources are shared, and creative hearts are nourished.
